Stephen Colbert on Tennessee gun laws

Date July 16, 2009

It’s the second time since March that Colbert has taken a close look at handguns in Tennessee. Last time, Colbert addressed the hullabaloo after The Commercial Appeal published the names of folks who have a permit to carry a handgun.

This time he’s taking aim at the proponents of Tennessee’s new law which allows folks to carry a loaded handgun into bars.

I really wish that a member of the media had actually bothered to read the damn law. Why? Because it doesn’t actually allow guns to be brought into bars. Really, the whole thing is a total media lie.

I wrote details about this here: http://ottodestruct.com/blog/2009/07/17/the-media-are-a-bunch-of-idiots/

Thanks for your comment Otto. There are still provisions that prohibit guns under certain circumstances, but it does expand the legality of carry guns in places that serve alcohol, right? I wouldn’t exactly categorize it as a “total media lie.”
