Check out what the Des Moines Register is doing today, the first day gay couples can legally marry in Iowa. Pretty cool use of public records (yes, Hamilton County, they are public) for a visually appealing, timely and useful web application.
As I’m writing this there were 380 licenses already issued. Think about that — in one day, 760 people, who a day ago were denied the same rights as heterosexual people, took the first step in marrying the person of their choosing. Pretty awesome.
Props to Craig Johnson, James E. Wilkerson and Michael Corey of the Des Moines Register.
